Footstep

A board nailed upon a piece of timber seven or eight inches high, and is bevelled away on its upper side, as is also the board on its under side at its hither end, that the board may stand aslope on the floor. It is placed fast on the floor under the carriage of the press. — M.
It is made of elm; and gives the pressman great advantage in pulling when he has a heavy form on the press.
