A man turns a wheel that operates a marc press. Marc, or pomace, is what remains of grapes when the fruit has been pressed for wine. It is used to make pomace brandy.

The caption reads in the original French: Pressoir à marc de raisin en usage dans le Médoc et à Cognac.
