Description:

Color lithograph depicting two leopards (Panthera pardus) seen from the side at a watering hole. In the foreground is a melanistic individual (a black panther) sitting in front of a somewhat larger and more common spotted leopard, which stands against a rock face, with water still dripping from its mouth. They are referred to in the original caption by the older synonym Felis leopardus.
