Isabelle and Sigognac

Isabelle and Sigognac

This and the next five pictures were taken from Le Capitaine Fracasse (Captain Fracasse), by Théophile Gautier, published by F. Polo, Paris, 1860.

Isabelle et Sigognac montèrent l’escalier, et, charmés par la beauté de la nuit, firent quelques tours sur la terrasse avant de regagner leur chambre.

Isabelle and de Sigognac slowly ascended the broad steps, pausing frequently to turn and look back at this enchanting scene, and charmed with the beauty of the night walked for a little while to and fro upon the terrace before retiring to their rooms.
