Stipple engraving depicting the leaves and spherical cluster of blue flowers atop a tall, slender stem of the African lily (Agapanthus africanus), a perennial herbaceous plant in the Amaryllidaceae family native to South Africa. The original caption uses the older synonym Agapanthus umbellatus.
