Cistern Floriated Decoration

Symmetrical ornamental panel set against a pale blue background. The composition is centered on a large floral motif with radiating layers of pink, red, and yellow petals. Four similar blossoms surround the central bloom, interspersed with smaller pink and yellow flowers. Scrolling tendrils weave through the design, connecting the various floral elements. The panel is bounded by thin blue borders at the top and bottom edges. The author describes this ornament is  as follows:

From a very large cistern in cloisonné enamel. This magnificent composition is in every way Chinese, and is the very perfection of conventional ornamentation, perfect in distribution of form and colour.
