Fleur-de-Marie

Trimolet’s wife died while he was working on this series of illustrations for Les mystères de Paris. Her death was kept hidden from him for eight days, so that he could keep working and provide for himself, even if in the most basic way. He died of consumption later that year, on the 23^rd of December.
