Description
Hand-colored stipple engraving showing Iris susiana, also known as the Chalcedonian iris or mourning iris, a flowering plant in the family Iridaceae. It is native to the Middle East and produces large, deep purple flowers with large “falls.”
The caption reads in the original French: Iris Suziana — Iris de Suze.
