Description
A woman and a man are seen from the side facing each other on a landing stage as a gondola approaches, the man turning his gaze toward the viewer, the woman looking demurely down. More people in fancy dress can be seen behind them, among which a group of musicians playing against a background of ornate architecture enhanced with garlands of fruit.
This illustration is part of a diptych, of which the second piece can be found under the title No Power to Move. The pair illustrates the story titled “The Assignation.”
