Description
A grieving man crouches in the lap of a woman who bends forward to wrap an arm around him and share his sorrow. On the bed behind them lies the body of his bride, revealed by the light coming from the window.
This illustration was created for a poem by Marian E. James and was first published in Once a Week on April 13, 1861.
