Description

View of the facade of a timber-framed house probably dating to the middle of the twelfth century. Timber framing was one the most common types of structure at the time.
The sketches for this illustration were done in the year 1834 in Dreux, where Viollet-le-Duc witnessed the destruction of the house—or what remained of it.
