Description:

A woman stands in a courtyard cutting wood with a billhook chopping tool, not paying much attention to the nanny joining her with a baby in her arms as she talks to another woman leaning out of a second-floor window.

In the introduction to this book, the Brothers Dalziel inform us that In some cases, the artist has illustrated the author's poem; in others, the authors have shown themselves willing to portray in words the ideas conveyed in the artists' original designs.

This illustration accompanies At the Threshold, a poem by Robert Buchanan.
