A man traveling on horseback through a moonlit woodland has lost consciousness as a ghoulish figure mounted behind him leans forward, its arms wrapped around his neck. The horse, staring at the 
viewer with wide, startled eyes, leaps into a cascading stream where two grim figures with webbed hands crouch behind rocks, poised to attack. Elfinland Wud is a ballad by William Motherwell.
