Description:

Stipple engraving depicting the Kamchatka rose, a hybrid rose species primarily found in the northern regions of Asia. It is valued for its resilience in cold climates and for its attractive, bright pink, cup-shaped flowers that contrast pleasantly with its glossy, dark green, serrated leaves. Rosa kamtshatica is an unplaced name, which means it can neither be accepted, nor put into synonymy. The Kamchatka rose can thus be found under various taxonomic classifications, such as Rosa kamtchatica Vent., Rosa rugosa var. kamschatica Regel, Rosa × kamtchatica Vent.

The caption reads in the original French: Rosa kamtshatica — Rosier du Kamtschatka [sic].
