Description
A distraught woman in seventeenth-century dress clasps her arms around the neck of a man holding back the slumping dead body of a cleric. This is an illustration to La nuit d’un dangereux (The night of a dangerous man) by Philarète chasles.
The caption reads in the original French: Non, non, non, lui disait-elle en enlaçant de ses bras le col du jeune homme qui retenait le cadavre, non, non, je ne le veux plus !
