Description:

Stipple engraving depicting a branch of Rosa foetida, referred to by the author as Rosa eglanteria, that features two yellow blooms along with buds and leaves. Rosa foetida is native to the Caucasus Mountains and was imported to Europe, which has no native yellow rose, from Persia. Rosa eglanteria is currently considered a synonym of Rosa rubiginosa, the sweetbriar rose.

The caption reads in the original French: Rosa eglanteria — Rosier églantier.
