Sleep, Night, and Death

Set within a circular frame, a woman is seated on a flight of steps, a sleeping child at her feet while a second child stands to her left upon the lowest step. Below, a predella-like panel carries the inscription "Sleep Night & Death" over two figures who guard an iron door, set among antique ornament and architectural elements.
