Description
Hand-colored stipple engraving showing an Aztec lily (Sprekelia formosissima), a bulbous perennial plant in the family Amaryllidaceae native to Mexico. Aztec lilies are often grown as an ornamental plant for their attractive red flowers.
The caption reads in the original French: Amaryllis formosissima — Amaryllis lys St. Jacques.
