A basilisk is seen moving up a branch.The common basilisk (Basiliscus basiliscus) is a lizard in the family Corytophanidae native to the American continent. It has the unusual characteristic, along with other species of basilisks, to run on water, an ability it takes advantage of to thwart its many predators.
