Description:
Harold, also known as Harald Harfagr, or Hårfagre (meaning Fairhair in Norwegian) lived approximately between 850 and 932 of our era, and was the first king of Norway. Here he stands next to a tree that is mostly out of frame, with a crow or raven perched on it, seemingly whispering to him.
This illustration was created for a poem by George Borrow and first published in Once a Week, 1862.
